The Transmission Boxes of the Patrol SKODAs Are Sequentially Failing: 'Hraparak'

'Hraparak' reports that the newly acquired Skoda Octavia vehicles for the Patrol Service are not meeting expectations. The installed light-sound devices, radars, and gadgets are causing power overloads, resulting in the vehicles being unable to ensure their technical parameters as set by the manufacturer.

The media notes that frequent technical malfunctions arise from this issue, making the patrol Skodas inoperable. Specifically, sources told the news outlet that the transmission boxes of these vehicles, which have a delicate structure, often fail. When the light signals are activated, particularly the large spotlight mounted on the side, the transmission box of the Skoda Octavia used by the patrol service goes out of order due to power overload.

Regarding this matter, the publication sent a request to the Armenian police to provide information on how many Skoda Octavias are in the patrol police fleet, how many of them are not operational, and the reasons for their non-operation. The police confirmed that there are indeed vehicles that cannot be used due to issues arising from the transmission boxes.

According to the response from the police, out of the 150 Skoda Octavia vehicles registered with the patrol service, 33 are not operational due to failures in the transmission box selectors.

It is noted that even the police acknowledge that a mistake was made in acquiring such vehicles for the patrol police.

'Hraparak' also highlights that the purchase of Skoda Octavias for the patrol police was made with certain violations, including multiple amendments to the criteria and deadlines. Now, the police intend to acquire vehicles of a different brand to ensure the uninterrupted work of the patrol police in the regions. Most likely, the new vehicles will be Toyota models—either Camry or RAV 4—and will be purchased from 'Toyota Yerevan', just as before.
