New Vaccine to Combat the Omicron Strain

The nasal vaccine will allow people to protect themselves from severe cases of the Omicron strain, according to Alexander Gintsburg, director of the Gamaleya Scientific Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology, as reported by RIA Novosti.

“Undoubtedly, from our perspective, the mass application of the nasal vaccine will protect people not only from severe forms of Omicron but also from the possibility of infection,” Gintsburg stated during a broadcast on Rossiya 24.

According to him, clinical trials of the nasal vaccine have already begun. Earlier, Gintsburg had announced that the vaccine for COVID-19 being developed by the center would have two components. However, in the case of its application as an immunostimulant, one component would be sufficient. He indicated that the nasal vaccine against the coronavirus would be available in Russia in about 3-4 months.
