Health Minister's Order Inflicts Significant Damage on Restaurants: 70% Losses Reported

The public catering sector has suffered serious losses due to the order of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Armenia. In recent days, restaurants have reported a 70% decline in revenue. This was stated today by the directors and managers of the restaurants in an interview with ‘Pastiinfo’.

During our inspection, public catering points were almost empty. According to the director of one of the capital's popular restaurants, visitor numbers have decreased by 70%, but they are still in a state of waiting to determine their next steps.

Another restaurant manager noted that the venue used to be crowded in the morning, lunchtime, and evening hours, with reservations made in advance. However, today they are facing a problem with customers.

The only solution, according to him, would be for the restaurant community to unite and fight together, as this situation is heading for a sector-wide decline.

It is worth mentioning that many representatives from restaurants avoided discussing challenges on camera, fearing that it could lead to new problems, especially since they have employees to consider. One of the interviewees mentioned that their restaurant chain employs 140 people and that his statements could potentially leave them without jobs.
