US to Send New Military Aid Shipments to Ukraine
The United States has supplied Ukraine with 300 Javelin anti-tank missile systems. This was reported by the American Fox News television channel, which aired footage of the ammunition being unloaded.
Earlier, Ukraine's Ministry of Defense announced that a new batch of American military aid had arrived in the country, consisting of "modern equipment and ammunition of defensive significance." International news outlets also note that the US will send new military aid shipments to Ukraine. This was announced by Pentagon spokesperson John Kirby during a broadcast on CNN.
"We continue to provide assistance to Ukraine in the security sector so they can defend themselves. We have already sent three shipments in the last few days, and more deliveries are expected," he said.
According to Kirby, the timelines for sending 8,500 soldiers to Europe have not yet been determined. "We don’t know the answer to that question. Yesterday we just brought them to a heightened state of readiness to deploy to an appropriate theater on short notice. But there was no deployment order, there was no transition to action. So it's hard to say when that might happen. A lot will depend on the actions of Russian President Vladimir Putin," he stated.
Kirby also did not rule out that sending forces to Europe could happen before Russia's “invasion” of Ukraine. He also noted that if a decision is made, it’s not mandatory for all 8,500 people, who were reported to be on heightened readiness Monday, to deploy to Europe.
