VIDEO: 'There is no issue with personal data confidentiality, citizens voluntarily share their information' - Avanesyan
The confidentiality of citizens' personal data is not violated since individuals voluntarily share the results of their assessments, stated Health Minister Anahit Avanesyan in a conversation with journalists.
According to her, as the ‘Armed’ system is being implemented, new servers are being purchased and installed to ensure the secure storage of people's data. Regarding the confidentiality of medical and personal data, she emphasized that 'the citizen voluntarily shares the results of their assessments.'
Avanesyan noted that the goals behind all restrictions, including the presentation of vaccination certificates or negative test results, are aimed at curbing the spread of the pandemic. 'When we weigh the important issue of public health and the lives of people against the inconveniences of these restrictions, I believe it is clear what we should prioritize,' the minister stated.
It is noteworthy that media expert Samvel Martirosyan wrote on his Facebook page that the new restrictions and the requirement to present vaccination or PCR test data raise serious concerns regarding breaches of personal data confidentiality. 'If my QR code is scanned in every café, then they will be able to see my first name, last name, date of birth, and passport number. Well, who decided that in such a small nation we should know everything about each other? Who decided that my passport number is public information? And in that case, why not add more details—like home address, phone number, and social security number? There’s plenty of room for improvement,' the expert wrote.
