Video: Sayat Shirinyan Suspected of Stealing Espresso Machine in Martuni
Colonel of the Police Reserve, Sayat Shirinyan, a member of the 'Armenia' coalition, who was detained today by law enforcement in the Martuni administrative district of Gegharkunik Province, stated in a conversation with reporters that he is suspected of stealing an espresso machine.
"The police leadership is so incompetent that they do not even know how to fabricate a case. I am accused of stealing an espresso machine in Martuni last August. Where is Shirinyan and where is the theft of the espresso machine in Martuni? The last time I was in Martuni was in 1997. Well, didn’t those fools say at least to think of something serious?" said Sayat Shirinyan.
In 2020, a case was initiated by the police regarding the theft of an espresso machine from the village of Nerk’in Getashen in Martuni on August 26. Last year, the case was suspended due to the unknown perpetrator of the crime.
“Today, the police are sending a letter to the investigative committee stating that the device might have been stolen with a vehicle operated by Sayat Shirinyan. Mr. Shirinyan was questioned as a witness; we provided statements that we are unaware of the espresso machine or the location of the village of Nerk’in Getashen,” said Shirinyan’s lawyer, Benik Galstyan, in a conversation with reporters.
It is important to note that armed individuals detained Sayat Shirinyan today from his backyard. His lawyer and family were unaware of his whereabouts for over two hours, after which it became clear that Shirinyan had been taken to the Martuni police station in Gegharkunik.
