The Situation in Ukraine is Volatile and Concerns Us: Prime Minister
The situation around Ukraine is tense, and if you are following international news, it seems that this tension is increasing day by day. Of course, it is a volatile situation that naturally concerns us, said Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during an online press conference regarding developments in Ukraine and Armenia's position on them.
Pashinyan noted that Armenia shares its concerns on this matter with all partners. "We share our concerns with our international partners. In particular, we share our concerns with our CSTO partners as well as with our Western partners. That is all I can say. Naturally, we are interested in ensuring that the situation in Ukraine does not get out of control. It is clear that we do not have very great levers in this regard, but certainly, in any situation, we act in accordance with Armenia's national interests," Pashinyan assured.
He also responded to a question regarding whether Armenia, as the presiding country of the CSTO, has a strategy in case Russia decides to "invade" Ukraine and involve the CSTO. “As I have already said, Armenia's strategy will be guided by the strategic interests of the Republic of Armenia, and I do not wish to answer questions based on ‘what if’ scenarios, because I hope that we will not reach those ‘what ifs’ and the situation will not escalate to military confrontation,” Pashinyan said.
