If We Continuously Impose Restrictions, We Will Paralyze the Educational Process. "Fact" Presents the Views of Experts in the Field
Since the end of December and the beginning of this year, as is almost always the case, there has been an increase in viral respiratory diseases. Incidentally, there were discussions that the winter holidays for schools might be extended; however, classes started on January 10 as scheduled.
Recently, there has been increasing talk about possibly adjusting the holiday schedule, particularly organizing the educational process in June and extending summer vacation to two months, instead of having a one-month break in January.
On this topic, "Fact" is preparing to present the perspectives of various field experts. We discussed the issue from a healthcare standpoint with therapist and president of the Armenian Association of Internal Medicine, Lamara Manukyan. Ms. Manukyan does not agree with such a proposal.
“Viral respiratory diseases tend to increase in the fall and spring. The spread of respiratory viruses in January is associated with the holiday season. People start visiting each other’s homes. If we transfer the educational process from January to June, nothing will change. For viral respiratory infections, January and December are not peak months. Therefore, I am not inclined to think that if schoolchildren and students stay home in January and the educational process begins in February, we will reduce the spread of the flu. If we continuously impose certain restrictions, we will paralyze the educational process, and that affects the children,” said Ms. Manukyan in an interview with "Fact."
