I Can’t Find Any Explanation: What Edik Baghdasaryan Is Saying

Why are we the way we are? I can’t find any explanation. This is what Edik Baghdasaryan, the editor-in-chief of Hetq newspaper, wrote on his Facebook page.

“We have already been able to determine that the remains of two citizens from the village of Shekher in Artsakh, Ararat Ghulyan and Hmayak Mirzoyan, are located in one of the morgues, but we have not yet clarified where. Their bodies were discovered by searchers in the village on December 20, 2020, and were later transferred. Although the report from the Human Rights Defender of Artsakh states that the identification of Hmayak Mirzoyan's body was conducted by the community leader, the community leader told us in a conversation that he has not seen the body, and there was no identification.

Ararat Ghulyan’s mother has had her blood taken for DNA analysis twice. Once, blood was taken from one of Hmayak Mirzoyan’s daughters. None of them have been informed of any results since then. I do not know if the Ministry of Health or the Investigative Committee has lost the documents, or if the answers are somehow filed away. Why do state institutions operate in this manner, what are the reasons? It is impossible to understand how they work in this complex they have created. I am convinced that there are many similar stories regarding the missing persons. And we do not know what to do; those documents are not accessible, and it is impossible to enter these institutions to find out which morgue holds the remains of these two civilians. Look into these people's cases, verify the data, identify their remains, and give them to their relatives for burial,” the journalist wrote.
