Hrant Dink's Murder Case Being Covered Up, Says Karo Paylan

Karo Paylan, a member of Turkey's opposition 'People's Democratic' party, has declared that the case of Hrant Dink, the founder and editor-in-chief of the 'Agos' newspaper, is being covered up. He emphasized that political will is necessary to uncover the circumstances surrounding this murder.

'Unfortunately, we have been condemned to live without Hrant Dink for 15 years, who continuously advocated for coexistence,' Paylan stated in parliament, as reported by Ermernihaber.

'Back then, the darkness within the state decided to silence Hrant Dink, and on January 19, 2007, Hrant Dink was murdered by organized crime. An atrocity in which the state was complicit,' he said, stressing that the Turkish state has yet to confront its inner darkness.

Paylan also referred to a statement made months ago by Turkey's Minister of Internal Affairs, Suleyman Soylu, in which it was suggested that Erhan Tuncel, convicted in the Hrant Dink case, had connections to the notorious Turkish criminal figure Sedat Peker. 'Since that day (Soylu's statement), eight months have passed, and no prosecutor has taken action on the case, nor has Suleyman Soylu gone to the judicial authorities to disclose what he knows about it. Even this shows that there is still a will to keep the circumstances of Dink's murder in the shadows within the dark corridors of Ankara,' he highlighted.
