Does Moscow Also Believe That the 'Nagorno-Karabakh Issue Is Resolved'? Zakharova Responds

Russia, as a co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group, supports the continuation of the work of the co-chairs in accordance with their mandate. This was stated by Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, during a weekly press briefing in response to an Armenian journalist's question about Moscow's stance on the statement by Azerbaijan's president that Azerbaijan would not allow the co-chairs of the Minsk Group to address the issue of Nagorno-Karabakh, and whether Moscow also believes that the 'Nagorno-Karabakh issue is closed.'

“Russia, as a co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group, supports further work in this format, primarily in accordance with its mandate and, of course, taking into account the regional realities that emerged after the 2020 war. Our partners in the Minsk Group, the USA and France, fully share our position. This position was reflected in the statement of the heads of foreign policy establishments of the co-chairing countries on December 7 of last year,” Zakharova responded, recalling that this document reiterated the call of the co-chairs to host the co-chairs in the region soon, which will allow them to assess the situation on the ground and achieve tangible progress in humanitarian initiatives discussed during meetings between the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan with the co-chairs.
