"A Pperson from Armenia's Opposition has been Removed to Allow the Ambassador to Attend the Meeting with Congress Members" - Suren Sargsyan
International researcher Suren Sargsyan wrote on his Facebook page:
"U.S. Congress members have set aside their domestic strife and, demonstrating respect for statehood, the bipartisan system, and democracy, are collectively welcoming a foreign parliamentary delegation, three members of which are from the same party (including the ambassador). The American side has expressed its willingness to accommodate three participants. In fact, a person from Armenia's opposition has been removed from the list of participants to allow the ambassador to attend the meeting. For the ambassador, this was merely a wonderful 'photo opportunity' (as evidenced by the Menendez affair). If he had yielded his spot to any opposition figure from the National Assembly, it would have been viewed very positively and appropriately by the Congressional leadership as a commitment to the multiparty system and democracy. Not to mention that the ambassador could have negotiated for a fourth participant or sat in the second row. Why can’t one be a bit more diplomatic, visionary, and insightful?"
