Why International Organizations Do Not Visit Artsakh

It has been quite a long time since representatives of international organizations visited Artsakh. The last visit took place at the end of 2019, after which the coronavirus pandemic occurred, causing delays. Then a war broke out, but these are purely technical obstacles. A more significant political obstacle is Azerbaijan, which apparently seeks to prevent or complicate their visit to the region. This was stated by Artsakh’s Foreign Minister David Babayan at a press conference.

Babayan noted that they are in contact with them, and a meeting took place between the president of Artsakh and the newly appointed co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group, which is highly valued, as it can be considered one of the meetings with the co-chairs.

“We hope that they will visit the region; one day that visit must take place, especially since they want to and announce this. It is natural that Azerbaijan obstructs and will continue to obstruct,” Babayan stated, adding that he does not believe the co-chair countries of the Minsk Group will yield to blackmail and that Azerbaijan will achieve its goals.
