Video: In the Dialogue Process with Turkey, Rubinyan is Accountable to Me and I Personally Bear the Responsibility – Prime Minister
The decision to appoint Ruben Rubinyan as Armenia's special representative in the dialogue process with Turkey was made by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. “I made the decision to empower Ruben Rubinyan in this capacity based on political expediency. Rubinyan is accountable to me, the National Security Council of Armenia, and the Armenian people,” Pashinyan stated in the National Assembly.
Member of Parliament Gegham Manukyan from the ‘Armenia’ faction inquired whether there were any documents regarding this. “As our bitter three-year experience has shown, God forbid, if Rubinyan reaches a dangerous agreement in these negotiations, and if the public rebels, as well as the political majority, there is no document signed by Nikol Pashinyan. We have seen once that Nikol Pashinyan claims, ‘I am the number one responsible, but am I the number one guilty?’ The only one to blame remains Alen Simonyan,” the MP said.
Nikol Pashinyan also declared that regardless of who negotiates and who has the status of the negotiator, it is clear that he personally bears the entire responsibility for the process. “I have empowered Ruben Rubinyan with these authorities, considering the necessity that I must bear full responsibility for his actions there. I have done this to ensure that I do not empower a hidden, secret party member in that capacity, who would report to agents of influence from other countries instead of reporting to the state. I bear the responsibility, I have authorized, and I will bear the responsibility,” Pashinyan said.
