VIDEO: The Authorities Say One Thing, but Implement Something Completely Different - MP

Turkey is attempting to convey through various channels that the traditional preconditions are still in effect, regarding the normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations, said Tigran Abrahamyan, a member of the parliamentary faction "I Have Honor."

"The international recognition of the Genocide has always been on Armenia's foreign policy agenda, but if you look at the events of the past year and see the important political agendas in which Armenia is represented in any form, you will see that for this government, homeland, national values, and ideas are nonexistent values," said Abrahamyan.

He noted that in this case, there is an opportunity for the authorities to "slink away" from the situation, emphasizing the importance of maintaining power, which, according to the MP, painfully takes precedence over crucial agenda items that have been priorities for Armenia for at least the last three decades.

"The authorities are trying to push issues related to security to the background, bringing forward the daily bread or the matter of having a little more money, and convincing people that by disregarding more important values, we are on the path to a better life. Even if Turkey is benevolent for a certain short period and it appears that life in Armenia has changed, in reality, this will yield very short-term results because the problems in Turkey and Azerbaijan's aims are not to build economic relations but to achieve their political and strategic interests," Abrahamyan stated.
