VIDEO: Explain which country's interests were served by the memorandum signed by Vagharshak Harutyunyan, MP
We live in a reality where we receive information about the normalization process of Armenian-Turkish relations from Turkey. This was stated by Anna Grigoryan, a member of the 'Armenia' bloc, during a speech in the National Assembly.
According to the MP, “Erdogan's Turkey is not the Turkey with which we can engage in negotiations without preconditions or at least emerge from this process with some benefit.” Anna Grigoryan also emphasized that the normalization process of Armenian-Turkish relations is directly linked to Armenian-Azerbaijani relations.
“Turkey openly states that they will synchronize this process with Azerbaijan, telling us if we want to normalize relations with them, we must first normalize our relations with Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan does not hide what expectations it has from Armenia regarding corridors and other territorial claims,” said the opposition MP.
Anna Grigoryan also responded to questions from ruling party MPs regarding whether the actions of the opposition serve Armenia's interests. “If you meet Vagharshak Harutyunyan, ask him—when he signed the memorandum to hand over a 21 km section of the Goris-Kapan highway to Azerbaijan, whose interests was he serving? Certainly, that wasn't in the interests of the residents of Shurnukh or Davit Bek. Now, please explain to me, which country's interests were served by the memorandum signed by your representative Vagharshak Harutyunyan? By repeating Azerbaijani theses, to whose interests is Nikol Pashinyan serving?” said Anna Grigoryan.
