Driver of Car That Crashed Into Gas Pipeline and Injured Firefighter Condition Update
On January 13, at the beginning of Artashisyan Street in Yerevan, a traffic accident occurred as a result of a fire, leaving the driver, who was transferred to the National Center of Burns, in a stable but serious condition.
This was confirmed in a conversation with NEWS.am by the deputy director of the center for clinical affairs, Karine Babayan. She stated, “The patient is in the intensive care unit with burn shock and respiratory tract burns. Everything is being done to stabilize his health condition. The burns sustained are of 2nd, 3rd, and 4th degree.”
It is worth noting that during firefighting operations, firefighter-rescuer E.M. was also injured. The Ministry of Emergency Situations informed us that he suffered from smoke inhalation and is being discharged from the hospital today.
Recall that the vehicle, an Opel Zafira (driver A.H., born in 1945), had exited the traffic lane and collided with a gas pipeline adjacent to building 44/4 on Artashisyan Street, resulting in a gas leak and subsequent fire. Rescuers have conducted evacuation operations.
Windows of apartments in the adjacent building and household items on 9 balconies were burned.
