Case of Illegal Asset Seizure from Former Minister and Two Other Individuals Accepted for Review by Prosecutor's Office
Yerevan's First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction has accepted for consideration a third petition regarding the seizure of assets of illegal origin. According to the petition, the Property Seizure Unit of the Republic of Armenia's Prosecutor General's Office has filed a request with the court to seize the following assets from former Minister of Environment A. Harutyunyan and two affiliated individuals for the benefit of the Republic of Armenia:
- Two apartments located in Yerevan, a residential house, a hotel-restaurant complex, a garage, and two land plots located in Aragatsotn and Gegharkunik regions (completely, in some cases partially), or if impossible, their average market value, which totals more than 2.5 billion AMD.
- Shares in three shareholding companies, one of which has a market value of more than 8,166,400,000 AMD.
- A deposit of 1,661,628 USD in a bank.
- 4,391,805,299 AMD as the remainder of illegal funds, as well as 272,975,855 million AMD, which cannot be substantiated by the individual's legal income and has an illegal origin, making it impossible to seize under Article 20, Part 4 of the Law on Seizure of Assets of Illegal Origin.
In the coming days, additional petitions for the seizure of illegal assets will be presented by the unit concerning other cases where interim measures have already been applied.
