I Can Say What They Should Not Do: Who is Aliyev Threatening This Time

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has stated that Baku will suppress the attempts of the OSCE Minsk Group to engage with the Nagorno-Karabakh issue.

“I have no information on what the OSCE Minsk Group is doing. I assume they are now preparing for the anniversary events. As you know, the Minsk Group was created in 1992 and this year marks its 30th anniversary. They are probably busy preparing for these events. But putting jokes aside, I think they should set an agenda for themselves,” Aliyev said in an interview with Azerbaijani television, as reported by tert.am.

He noted that he has an understanding of what the OSCE Minsk Group should do and what they should not do. “I can say what they should not do: they should not deal with the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, as it has been resolved. We have resolved this issue instead. And I think their absence is linked to this,” said Aliyev.

He added that Azerbaijan will suppress the OSCE Minsk Group's attempts to engage with the Nagorno-Karabakh issue. “Because we will not allow it. We have been a party to this conflict. If one of the parties says that the conflict has been resolved, then there is no room for mediation, and our position has been conveyed to them. Perhaps they should think about what to do,” he stated.
