Today, on June 11, poet Razmik Davoyan has passed away. Davoyan was the author of more than 40 volumes and books, including works in Russian, Czech, and English. His creations have been published in Italian, French, South Slavic, Iranian, Chinese, and American periodicals.

The life and work of the poet have been referenced by "Literaturnaya Gazeta", French "Figaro", British "Times", and "Wasafiri" journals. In 1969, after being blocked for five years, "Requiem" was published. In 1972, the poem "The Slaughter of the Crosses" was published for the first time in Beirut, and the poem "Toros Roslin" was published for the first time in New York in 1984.

In 1990, the reputable Czech publisher "Odeon" included his works in an anthology of world literature. Davoyan was born on July 3, 1940, in the village of Mets Parni in the Spitak region. He received his primary education at the local school. In 1949, he moved with his family to Gyumri (Leninakan), where he completed secondary school and the local medical college. In 1964, he graduated from the Armenian State Pedagogical Institute named after Khachatur Abovian, majoring in historical linguistics.

He worked at the founding editorial office of the magazine "Science and Technology" while also serving as an editor at "Literary Newspaper". Since 1965, he has led the poetry and prose section of the "Literary Newspaper". In 1970, he worked at the Committee for Cultural Relations with Diaspora Armenians as a senior advisor. From 1975 to 1990, he served as the responsible secretary of the State Awards Committee of Armenia.

In 1989, he was appointed as the first deputy chairman of the Armenian Supreme Council's Disaster Area Commission. From 1991 to 1999, he was the president of the All-Armenian Educational and Cultural Union in Armenia. From 1994 to 1996, he was elected president of the Writers' Union of Armenia. From 1999 to 2003, he served as an advisor to the President of the Republic of Armenia. From 2005 to 2007, he was the director of the "Yerevan" documentary film studio. From 2007 to 2018, he worked as an advisor to the director of the "H1" TV channel.

His first poem was published in 1957 in the "Worker" newspaper of Leninakan, and his first collection was released in 1963. The life and work of the poet have been featured in "Literaturnaya Gazeta", French "Figaro", British "Times", and "Wasafiri" journals.
