Man Threatens Store Employee in Vanadzor After Stealing Items
On January 10th, at around 1:00 PM, a citizen called the police operation management center, reporting that they had been attacked with a weapon in an apartment on Demirchyan Street in Vanadzor. The police announced that the alert was transferred to the Territorial Division of the Police. An operational investigative group immediately headed to the scene.
At 1:15 PM, the victim reported that on the same day, around 11:00 AM, a resident of the neighborhood entered their store, demanded cigarettes, and then took cigarettes and other items without permission. When the man tried to leave the store, the shopkeeper demanded that he pay for the items. The man produced a knife from his pocket, struck a scale placed on the counter, and issued death threats along with insults before leaving without paying.
Two hours later, the man returned to the store, still holding the knife, and continued to issue death threats. He then noticed the shopkeeper's brother in the store's yard and attacked him while threatening him. In efforts to prevent the attack, the brother fired a shot into the air from a gas pistol registered in his name. The assailant fled the scene.
Thanks to operational investigative measures, the identity of the man was determined in a short time. Around 1:20 PM, a 35-year-old man was found on Demirchyan Street, taken to the Territorial Division of the Police, and presented to the Lori Regional Investigative Department.
A criminal case has been initiated on the grounds of robbery. The man has been arrested, and measures are being taken to locate the knife used in the crime. The gas pistol has been confiscated. An investigation is ongoing.
