In Baltimore, Maryland, for the first time, a pig's heart has been successfully transplanted into a human. This was reported by the New York Times.
The surgery lasted eight hours and was conducted by surgeons at the University of Maryland Medical Center. This marks the first successful transplant of a pig heart into a human. The patient is currently under medical supervision.
Currently, there are around 110,000 people in the USA waiting for organ transplants, of which approximately 6,000 die each year while waiting for their turn.
