3000 Soldiers and 300 Units of Military Equipment: Russian Defense Ministry to Conduct Exercises Near Ukraine Border
The Russian Western Military District has deployed nearly three thousand soldiers and 300 units of military equipment to regions bordering Ukraine, where exercises will be held, reports Meduza, citing the district's press service.
The exercises will take place in the Voronezh, Belgorod, and Bryansk regions (adjacent to Ukraine), as well as in the Smolensk region. Among other assets, T-72B3 tanks and BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicles will participate in the exercises.
Recently, there have been increasing statements in the West and Ukraine regarding Russia's alleged possible "incursion" into Ukrainian territory. The press secretary of the Russian President, Dmitry Peskov, called such information an empty and baseless escalation of tension, emphasizing that Russia poses no threat to anyone. At the same time, he did not rule out the possibility of provocations to justify such statements, warning that attempts to resolve issues through military means in southeastern Ukraine would have the most serious consequences.
