Collision between Yerevan-Jambarak route shuttle "Gazelle" and Mercedes leaves 7 injured
On January 10, a severe car accident occurred in the Gegharkunik region due to icy road conditions. Around 5:00 PM, a "Gazelle" minibus driven by 63-year-old Toros K. from Gegharkunik and a Mercedes driven by 33-year-old Vahik P. from Tavush collided on the 72.5 km stretch of the Yerevan-Ijevan highway.
According to shamshyan.com, the passengers of the "Gazelle"—including 45-year-old Marat K. from Yerevan, 10-year-old Ruben K., 20-year-old Haykush K., and 37-year-old Arman S. from Gegharkunik—along with Mercedes driver Vahik P. and his passenger, 26-year-old Nver B. from Tavush, were taken to the "Sevan" medical center with various injuries. Additionally, another "Gazelle" passenger, 22-year-old Argishti J. from Yerevan, was transported to Yerevan's number 1 university hospital.
Reports indicate that among the injured are members of different families, and the "Gazelle" operates route 327, serving the Yerevan-Jambarak-Zoravan stretch. According to photographic reports, the cause of the accident was the icy road, and it was only after the crash that road maintenance officials began treating the road with salt and sand.
