EU Reacts to CSTO Decision to Send Troops to Kazakhstan
The EU foreign minister has expressed concern regarding events in Kazakhstan, including the Collective Security Treaty Organization's decision to send peacekeeping troops.
“The rights and safety of citizens must be guaranteed. External military assistance evokes memories of situations that must be avoided,” the head of the EU's foreign policy department tweeted, without providing specific details.
“The European Union is ready to support the resolution of this crisis,” he emphasized.
Earlier, a spokesperson for Josep Borrell also issued a statement regarding the CSTO's decision to send peacekeeping forces to Kazakhstan, stating, “Any such intervention must respect Kazakhstan's sovereignty and independence.”
