Tragic Incident in Yerevan: Citizen Falls into Water Pipe Due to Construction Workers' Negligence
On January 4, a tragic incident occurred in Yerevan. Around 19:50, the emergency situations ministry's rescue service received a call at the 9-11 crisis management center reporting a body in a water pipe under a bridge at the intersection of Tichina and Sherami streets, along the newly constructed North-South highway.
According to Shamshyan.com from the scene, the Ministry of Emergency Situations' number 7 rescue brigade arrived promptly. The police cordoned off the area, while firefighters retrieved the body of the man from the water pipe using a stretcher and a rope.
The police are working to identify the deceased. At the investigator's direction, a forensic examination has been ordered. Preliminary information indicates no signs of violence on the body.
According to the criminal investigation department of the Malatia police, operatives have identified a witness who saw the citizen fall from the bridge. It has been noted that if the construction company had installed protective barriers before the roadway was put into operation, this incident would not have occurred.
