Aronian Loses in Final Round of Rapid Chess Championship

In the final round of the nearing conclusion of the World Rapid Chess Championship in Warsaw, Levon Aronian lost to France's Alireza Firouzja, thereby eliminating himself from contention for the title. Aronian is currently in 5th place with 14 points.

Firouzja, Polish player Jan-Krzysztof Duda, and French player Maxime Vachier-Lagrave have each earned 15 points. Based on additional criteria, two of them will qualify for a tiebreaker round. FIDE has yet to release the calculations.

Among representatives from Armenia, Haik M. Martirosyan achieved the best result, tying for places 8-18 with a total of 13.5 points.

It's worth noting that the World Championship being held in the Polish capital includes other Armenian players such as Gabriel Sargsyan, Samvel Ter-Sahakyan, Shant Sargsyan, Robert Hovhannisyan, Manuel Petrosyan, Haik Martirosyan, Hovhannes Gabuzyan, Tigran Petrosyan, Sergey Movsisyan, Elina Danielyan, and Susanna Gaboyan.

The prize fund for the World Chess Championship amounts to 1 million dollars.
