The Grey Horse: Gnel Sanosyan, or Who is the Owner of the Controversial 'EuroAsphalt'
The construction company 'EuroAsphalt', headed by Karlen Simonian, the brother of National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonian, has another acquaintance within the ruling circles, who is perhaps one of the main keys to the success of this newly established company in government procurements. This was reported by Hetq.am.
In September, we wrote that the company led by K. Simonian had signed two contracts for road renovations with the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure (MTAI) and the Aparan municipality in a short time since its establishment (the company was founded in March 2020). The value of the first contract is 356 million drams (initially 368 million, but then reduced), while the second is 287 million, making the total price of these contracts 643 million drams.
The data has been sourced from the finance ministry's armeps.am procurement system. As the data in this system is continuously updated, there are currently 4 contracts signed with 'EuroAsphalt' listed on armeps.am, while the company has participated in 14 tenders in total, of which it had 2 shares in 4, amounting to a total of 18 procurement items. It is noteworthy that all the tenders were organized this year. Of the contracts, 2 were signed with the MTAI, and the other 2 were with the municipalities of Artik and Aparan. The total value of these contracts amounts to 755 million drams.
