We Want to Change the Admission Process at Universities: Minister Reveals Details
The admission process at universities for the 2023-2024 academic year is set to undergo changes. This was announced by the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, Vahram Dumanian, during a press conference, where he elaborated that with the new changes, applicants will have the opportunity to take the same entrance exam twice.
“Until now, it has been one attempt. With the proposed changes, if for various reasons an applicant does not successfully pass the exam and does not have the opportunity to enter a university, that opportunity will be available next year. We want to provide graduates with an additional chance so that they can feel more at ease, and the stress of exams is reduced. After all, taking a unified exam is indeed a stressful situation; let’s not forget that we are talking about graduates who have just finished school, and not everyone can handle that stress lightly,” said the minister.
Vahram Dumanian also mentioned that in the vocational and secondary professional field, 21 new specialties have been introduced in the last three years, and 2 more are planned to be introduced in 2022. The law on higher education and science, some provisions of which were deemed unconstitutional by the Constitutional Court, has been revised and submitted to the government in a new version. After receiving approval from the National Assembly, the law will be put into circulation.
