Three to Four Men Invade Home: Why Is the Son of the Former Mayor of Gyumri Accused?
The criminal case against Spartak Ghukasyan has been sent to court with an accusatory conclusion. This was reported by Gor Abrahamyan, an advisor to the Attorney General of Armenia.
“The investigation into the criminal case concerning threats of violence against a police officer, conducted by the Shirak Regional Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia, has been completed. The Shirak Regional Prosecutor’s Office has confirmed the accusatory conclusion, and the case against Gyumri resident S. Ghukasyan has been sent to the first instance court of general jurisdiction of Shirak region for substantive examination,” Abrahamyan stated.
Previously, the prosecutor's office informed that a resident of Gyumri had submitted a complaint, stating that on August 17, 2021, around 23:00-23:15, S. Ghukasyan, along with three to four other men, entered her yard to clarify matters with her grandson.
To verify the circumstances mentioned in the complaint, law enforcement officers visited S. Ghukasyan's residence; however, he initially refused to open the door. Hours later, he called the head of the Criminal Investigation Division of the Kumayri Police Department and threatened to use violence against him.
As a result of the necessary measures taken, S. Ghukasyan was located, and charges were brought against him for threatening violence against a representative of the authority. On August 20, 2021, the prosecuting authority submitted a motion to the court to apply the detention as a measure of restraint against S. Ghukasyan, which was rejected.
The Criminal Court of Appeals of Armenia approved the prosecutor's appeal regarding the selection of detention as a measure of restraint on September 15, 2021.
Considering that S. Ghukasyan had been duly notified and summoned by the investigative body but did not appear and did not inform them of the reasons for his non-appearance, and his whereabouts were unknown, the investigative body decided to issue a wanted notice against him.
As a result of the necessary measures, on November 27, 2021, the wanted S. Ghukasyan was located, presented to the prosecuting authority, and detained.
