Gas Cylinder Catches Fire, Elderly Woman's Clothing Ignites Resulting in Fatal Burns
A tragic incident occurred in the Ararat region on December 25, as reported by Shamshyan.com. Around 01:25, the Masis police department received a call regarding a citizen who was transported to the burn center with burns diagnosed as "second, third, and fourth degree thermal burns on the back, abdomen, chest, neck, upper and lower extremities, and the upper respiratory tract."
Operational groups from the Masis police and the Davitashen police department arrived at the scene and determined that the victim was 81-year-old Lena M., a resident of the village of Nor Kharberd in the Ararat region. She sustained her injuries from flames that erupted from a gas stove connected to a 3-kilogram gas cylinder in her home, causing her clothing to catch fire.
She managed to extinguish the flames herself; however, at approximately 09:40 the same day, the burn center reported to the Masis police that Lena M. had died in the intensive care unit.
Following the investigator's decision, an autopsy has been scheduled.
