Armenia Appoints New Ambassador to Israel

President Armen Sarkissian has appointed Arman Hakobyan as the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to the State of Israel. According to the press office of the President, the appointment was made based on the Prime Minister's proposal, in accordance with Article 132, Part 1, Clause 2 of the Constitution, as well as Article 14, Part 1 of the Law on Diplomatic Service.

Ambassador Arman Hakobyan will reside in Tel Aviv. He is a specialist in Oriental studies and holds a Candidate of Sciences degree in Philology. He is the author of the Hebrew language textbook “Ardi Hebrew” (Yerevan, 2003), as well as “Classic Assyrian” (Yerevan, 2005), and “Introduction to Aramaic and Assyriology” (Yerevan, 2015). He speaks English, French, Russian, Arabic, Hebrew, Portuguese, and Latin. Since 2007, he has held the diplomatic rank of Extraordinary Envoy and Plenipotentiary Minister.
