Video: I assume the one giving orders will 'fly away' now, but others will remain - Kocharyan

The authorities are making numerous officials accomplices to their crimes. This was stated by the second President of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan, during a press conference. He announced that the current government has abandoned the principles under which it came to power. In this regard, Kocharyan found the speech of former mayor Hayk Marutyan interesting.

“When we say it, the perception is one way; when a prominent representative of their team says it, the value is another,” said Kocharyan.

Referring to the arrests of community leaders and candidates following the local government elections, Robert Kocharyan described those actions as a disgrace. “The number of arrests today has never been seen under any government. During my presidency, law enforcement agencies were not involved in local government issues. There were no instances when the governor, security officials, and the police chief would sit down and say, ‘you must do this, you must do that.’”

Kocharyan indicated that the worst part is that the authorities are making numerous officials accomplices to their crimes. The latter do not realize that they will be held accountable for the crimes committed. “The government is committing a crime with all of this, but while committing that crime, it is making numerous officials accomplices. No government lasts forever. There will come a moment when everyone will be held accountable for all this, including the accomplices. I assume that the one giving orders will ‘fly away’ now, but others will remain. They say nothing bonds people as much as shared guilt, and we are currently facing this reality.”

The second President of Armenia noted that he understands that instructions are being given, but advised those officials to draw a line and indicate that as an official, they will not cross that line. “Say that as an official, you will not go beyond that line, because the time will come when we will face serious consequences. In the end, this will turn out very badly for some people.”
