Çavuşoğlu on First Meeting of Armenian and Turkish Representatives

The first meeting of representatives from Armenia and Turkey regarding the normalization of relations will take place in Moscow. Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu announced this, according to RIA Novosti.

"Ankara and Yerevan will specify the exact date for the meeting of special representatives of the two countries. The Armenian side has proposed to hold the meeting of special representatives in Moscow. We support direct communication with Armenia without intermediaries," Çavuşoğlu told reporters.

The minister also announced that the first flight from Istanbul to Yerevan will occur in the coming days.

It should be reminded that there are no diplomatic relations between Armenia and Turkey. In 2009, the foreign ministers of the two countries signed protocols in Zurich to establish diplomatic relations, but these documents were never ratified.

On December 13, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu announced that special representatives would be appointed by Ankara and Yerevan for the normalization of relations. The following day, the spokesperson for the Armenian Foreign Ministry confirmed this information.

It is known that the Turkish representative will be Serdar Kılıç, the former ambassador of Turkey to the USA, while the Armenian representative will be Ruben Rubinyan, the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly.
