30-year-old man obtained photos of various citizens' faces and IDs to sign fake loan agreements

As a result of extensive investigative and procedural actions conducted by the Lori regional investigative department of the Armenian Investigative Committee, the circumstances of a case involving significant embezzlement by a 30-year-old resident of Lori province from two different companies have been established. This was reported by the Investigative Committee.

According to factual data obtained during the investigation, from September 2020 to January 2021, the 30-year-old man acquired photos of various citizens' faces and passports in Spitak city under the pretext of social support, collecting winnings from online betting games, and other reasons. He then sent these images online to a bank and filled out online applications for loans in their names, signing fake contracts.

Using the aforementioned agreements, the man arranged uncollateralized loans in the names of these citizens, which he transferred to his own account through the “Idram” payment system. Additionally, from October 2020 to January 2021, the same man acquired the “Idram” system passwords from various citizens in the same city under the same pretexts. Subsequently, with the intention to fraudulently embezzle money from the credit organization, without their knowledge or consent, he used the stored images of their faces and IDs in that payment system and sent them online to the organization.

By filling out online loan applications in the names of these citizens, the man signed fake contracts, through which he arranged loans transferred to his account via the “Idram” system.

Based on a sufficient collection of evidence, charges have been brought against the 30-year-old resident of Spitak under Article 178, Part 3, Item 1, and Article 325, Part 1, of the RA Criminal Code. A signature not to leave the country has been chosen as a preventive measure against him. The pre-trial investigation has been completed, and the criminal case has been sent to the prosecutor overseeing the proceedings with a request to confirm the indictment and forward it to the court.

Notice: The suspect or accused in the alleged crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty according to the procedure established by the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia through a court decision that has entered into legal force.
