Peskov Reveals How Putin Plans to Celebrate New Year

Russian President Vladimir Putin will celebrate the New Year, as is traditional, in the company of family and close friends. This was reported by TASS, citing Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the Russian President.

“As per tradition, with family and close friends,” Peskov said in response to a question about how the president will welcome the holiday.

However, the week of Christmas will be partially a working period for Putin. The Kremlin representative noted that Putin rarely spends the entire period just celebrating.

“I think that in the first few days, like everyone else, the president will use the time to rest. However, I emphasize, he cannot have complete downtime,” Peskov mentioned.

He clarified that Putin constantly has to work both with documents and other data, especially given the tense situation in Europe, where information is consistently coming through various channels.

Peskov also added that Putin will need to read reports and attend briefings, and this process cannot stop. He did not rule out that starting from the middle of the New Year festivities, the president might have some meetings, although no consultations are currently planned.

Putin's holiday schedule does not include a visit to Sochi for skiing.
