“Why couldn’t they achieve the mayor’s resignation and instead opted for impeachment?

• For months, investigations by the NSS and the PIU in the mayor's office found nothing to use for blackmail.
• The mayor did not comply with illegal requests, instructions, and orders from high-ranking officials during his tenure, which could have been used against him today.
• The demand for resignation was rejected because there were only a few individuals calling for it, and the basis was party-related.
• They lacked the leverage over the mayor that they have over heads of other communities.
• They couldn’t intimidate him with criminal cases.
• If they could have removed him without impeachment, it would have been out of the question to initiate such a disgraceful process of mistrust in front of the public.”
