Department Heads and Employees Submit Resignation Letters: What's Happening in the City Hall?
The head of the Information and Public Relations Department of the Yerevan City Hall, Hovsep Kubatyan, has not yet made a final decision on whether he will continue to work with the new mayor, Hrachya Sargsyan. Sputnik Armenia reports:
“In order for the work not to be affected, I am currently still in office until a new press secretary or head of department is appointed. If both I and the spokesperson were to leave at once, it would create a shock in our sector,” Kubatyan said in an interview with the media.
He also confirmed reports that several department heads and unit leaders at the city hall have submitted resignation letters following the vote of no confidence in former Mayor Hayk Marutyan. “After Marutyan, the heads of the City Hall's Construction and Urban Development Department, the Transport Department, the director of ‘Yerevan Transport’ LLC, and others have been dismissed,” he noted, adding that Hayk Marutyan has not yet resigned from his mandate.
As for the reasons behind the mass departures of city hall employees, Kubatyan refrained from commenting.
It is important to remember that on December 22, the Yerevan Council held an extraordinary session and voted no confidence in Hayk Marutyan, who was elected mayor based on the results of the Yerevan Council elections held on September 23, 2018.
On the same day, Marutyan's spokesperson, Hakob Karapetyan, announced via his Facebook page that he had submitted a resignation letter.
