The Investigative Committee of Armenia is conducting necessary investigative and procedural actions in the Ararat region regarding a criminal case initiated under Part 1 of Article 112 and Part 4 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code, aimed at clarifying the circumstances of serious bodily harm inflicted on two residents of Aygezard village and hooliganism. This information has been provided by the Committee.

A report about the incident was received from the Artashat Medical Center on December 23, 2021, at 17:15, indicating that two residents of the Aygezard village were admitted, one diagnosed with 'cranial trauma, coma' and the other with 'cranial trauma, lacerated wounds to the top of the head.'

As a result of urgent measures taken, it was established that on the same day at approximately 16:30, a 47-year-old resident of Aygezard collided with the car of a 25-year-old villager at the intersection of Pushkin and Kostan streets. After exiting his vehicle, he aimed a firearm at the young man and shouted insults.

An altercation ensued between them, during which a shot was fired, and the 25-year-old, having seized the firearm from the villager's hands, struck him on the head with the butt of the gun.

During the conflict, one of the intervening individuals hit the young man, after which his brother approached and struck the intervenor once with his fist.

During the pre-investigation, an examination of the crime scene was conducted, forensic medical examinations were appointed, and several individuals were interrogated. The 25-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious bodily harm to the villager, while his brother has been released under a signature not to leave.

The investigation is ongoing.
