76 Cases of H3 Influenza Virus Confirmed in Armenia: Ministry of Health Provides Details

In the Republic of Armenia, a high level of activity related to acute respiratory infections continues to be recorded, both in terms of visits to outpatient polyclinics, hospital organizations, and emergency response calls. The highest activity has been noted in Yerevan, as well as in the Ararat, Gegharkunik, Tavush, and Kotayk regions.

According to the results of ongoing monitoring conducted by specialists at the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health, the incidence has exceeded the epidemic threshold by 2.2 times and is 2 times higher compared to the same period last year. Age group analysis shows that the incidence is particularly high among children under 4 and those aged 5-14.

Within the framework of epidemiological monitoring, 76 laboratory-confirmed cases of the H3 subtype of the influenza A virus have been reported over the past 4 weeks, of which 30 cases were among pregnant women.

To prevent acute respiratory infections and avoid complications from illness, the Ministry of Health once again reminds and urges the public to:

  • Get vaccinated against seasonal influenza by contacting your registered primary healthcare organization,
  • Avoid close contact with individuals exhibiting flu-like symptoms,
  • If you are sick, stay home, especially for children with flu-like symptoms; ensure they do not attend school or kindergarten while seeking medical consultation and treatment,
  • If sick, call your local pediatrician, therapist, or family doctor and avoid self-medication,
  • Do not use antibiotics, as they are not indicated for the treatment of influenza and acute respiratory infections,
  • Dress appropriately for the weather,
  • Adhere to etiquette for coughing and sneezing,
  • Consume as many fluids as possible,
  • Frequently ventilate closed spaces,
  • Follow personal hygiene practices.

Reminder: Vaccinations against seasonal influenza are free and can be administered simultaneously with other vaccinations, including those for coronavirus, or during any interval.
