What's Happening in Parakarm is Absurd Theater: Vahagn Aleksanyan Elaborates
What's happening in Parakarm is absurd theater in every sense of the word. This is noted by Vahagn Aleksanyan, a member of the National Assembly from the 'Civil Contract' faction, in a post on his Facebook page.
The first session of the council is called to order, presided over by the oldest council member, representing the 'Living Land' party. Present at the session unlawfully are Mesrop Arakelyan and Mane Tandilyan, who are also giving instructions to members of the Living Land council.
And this is where the absurdity begins. The presiding council member announces that there is one candidate for mayor, represented by 10 council members of the Living Land. Council members from the CPP and the other alliance present another unified candidate. Notably, the member from the Living Land council states that this cannot happen because nominations must be submitted in writing, which is not stipulated by any law.
When the council members from the CPP and the Davit Minasyan alliance, who make up the majority, request a break to consult with lawyers, the 10 council members from the Living Land 'elect' their candidate. This is despite the fact that 11 votes are required for a quorum, meaning it is impossible to elect a mayor with just the participation of 10 members from a council of 21.
Now, the leadership of the Living Land has gone to the mayor's office and claims that there is a takeover of power happening. A classic would say, this is not even a playground; it's a madhouse.
