We Shouldn't Wait for the Knife to Reach the Bone Before Acting, Says Prime Minister
During today's government meeting, Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan announced that the coronavirus situation in Armenia is relatively good. "Yesterday, 129 new cases were registered, and there were 15 recorded deaths," the minister noted. According to her, if health guidelines are followed during pre-holiday and holiday periods, the situation can be maintained in a stable condition.
Avanesyan stated that the 'Omicron' variant has not yet been detected in Armenia. "A total of 1,591,809 vaccinations have been administered. 920,650 citizens have received the first dose, and 670,710 citizens have received the second dose," she said. Additionally, she mentioned that about 500 citizens have already received the booster shot.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan added that the next wave is inevitably on the way, and vaccinations must continue as they did when daily figures reached 1,500 cases and 70 deaths were recorded. "We shouldn't wait for the knife to reach the bone before we act," he said. Pashinyan also mentioned that he has received the third dose and encourages everyone to do the same.
