Snowfall in Charentsavan; Some Roads Closed and Difficult to Traverse
The Ministry of Emergency Situations has announced that as of 1:14 PM, there are closed and difficult-to-navigate roads across the Republic of Armenia.
The road from Amberd Fortress to Karahunj Lake in the Aragatsotn Province is closed. Due to the risk of rockfalls, the road from Zovuni village to the Koreans' Gorge is temporarily closed. The Vardenyats Pass is difficult to traverse for trucks with trailers (snow chains are required).
The Saravan-Zanger section in Vayots Dzor, inter-community roads in Shirak Province, and the Gorayk-Sisian road are difficult to navigate.
In the provinces of Syunik, Gegharkunik, and Tavush, as well as on the Gyumri-Bavra road in Shirak, in the Abovyan region of Kotayk Province, and in the Tigranashen bends of Ararat Province, there are patches of black ice, particularly on the 23rd-24th km of the Yerevan-Sevan highway (known as the 'Chayni Bends').
In the city of Charentsavan in Kotayk Province, it is snowing.
According to the information received from the National Emergency Management Agency of Georgia and the Crisis Management Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation in North Ossetia, the Stepantsminda-Lars road is closed to all types of vehicles. Drivers are advised to travel exclusively with winter tires.
