Baku Appeals to Google Regarding Naming of Nagorno-Karabakh Territories
The official Baku has made a diplomatic appeal to Google, demanding the removal of the Armenian names of settlements in Artsakh. Specifically, it was noted that alongside the Azerbaijani names of territories in the "Azerbaijan's Karabakh region" on Google Maps, there are "distorted names" presented in Armenian.
The relevant authorities sent a list of the "official geographic names" of the corresponding Azerbaijani territories to Google's leadership. This was announced by the official representative of the ministry, Leila Abdullayeva.
"This issue is under our attention, and measures are continuing to eliminate the 'distorted' names," emphasized the Foreign Ministry representative.
During a session of the UN Group of Experts on Geographic Names, Azerbaijan presented a report that includes a list of 4,589 officially standardized and approved names of settlements in Azerbaijani, English, and Russian.
