Reopening of the Yereaskh-Julfa Railway Line Under Discussion: Deputy Prime Minister
Any restoration of infrastructure implies that it will operate under the jurisdiction and sovereignty of the countries involved. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan during an interview with Radio Freedom, referring to the regional unblocking and infrastructure opening processes.
He noted that this infrastructure will operate under the jurisdiction of the Republic of Armenia, in accordance with established legislation.
“There are numerous questions that need to be examined. Each tripartite meeting raises questions that need to be further discussed,” he stated.
When asked whether the Yereaskh-Julfa railway line to Sadarak could be reopened soon, the Deputy Prime Minister responded: “We have such a desire, and any opportunity for unblocking that can be realized through existing infrastructures is desirable. Naturally, this is a matter for negotiations, and I cannot say that it will happen immediately. Yes, it is part of the negotiations, but I cannot say what final agreement we will reach.”
Mher Grigoryan also mentioned that the Ijevan-Ghazakh route has been discussed, as have all routes. “However, there are reasonable and rational costs, and there are solutions that can be applicable at this stage,” added Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan.
