Prosecutor's Office Investigates Hayk Marutyan's Statements

The RA Prosecutor's Office is examining the statements made by Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan. This was reported to 'Factinfo' by the RA Prosecutor's Office.

It should be reminded that today during the extraordinary session of the Yerevan Council of Elders, the issue of expressing no confidence in Hayk Marutyan was discussed. During this session, the mayor made a number of sensational statements, pointing to the corrupt manifestations of this government and stating that during his work, he received various calls from high-ranking officials asking for the dismissal of certain employees for negative Facebook comments or requesting privileges for their relatives.

He stated, 'They said that an employee of the municipality wrote a 'bad' comment, or liked a comment under a 'bad' status, and should be dismissed. I received dozens of such calls. In response, I said that we made the revolution also for the sake of not persecuting people for their political views or dismissing them from their jobs.'

Marutyan also mentioned that various officials called asking for privileges for their relatives, such as, 'let's place this flower bud here, let’s issue that construction permit.' He also pointed out that the revolutionary comrades improved their material situation as soon as they came to power, secretly increasing the salaries of ministers to 1.5 million AMD and deputy ministers to 1 million AMD, while over 30% of the population lives in poverty.
