It is Sad That Our MPs Receive Such Low Salaries: Khachatur Sukiasyan
It is sad for me that our MPs receive such low salaries. This is not just about the MPs themselves. This was stated today, December 22, during a conversation with journalists at the National Assembly by Khachatur Sukiasyan, a member of the "Civil Contract" faction, referencing the recent distribution of bonuses in the National Assembly, as reported by news.am.
“We cannot retain the best personnel in Armenia otherwise; people will leave. If you raise the salary, the educational level of those applying for the job increases as well. Therefore, we must raise it significantly to attract the best candidates to the public sector. I would very much like the institute of parliamentary assistants to also offer higher salaries, because if a person is smart, they will not come to the National Assembly for that salary; they will work in their specialization. The salaries of deputy ministers and department heads also need to be increased, as they are very low. Otherwise, they will move to the private sector,” he said.
