Corruption at Waste Management Agency: Armen Galjyan Questions Mayor Marutyan

One year ago in November, people were occupying buildings in Yerevan and attempting to assassinate the President of the National Assembly, indicating a counter-revolution. Where was the revolutionary mayor of Yerevan during that time? Was he occupied in his office wearing a mask, or was he busy with his resignation letter from the party? This was stated today, December 22, at a session of the Yerevan City Council by Armen Galjyan, a member of the 'My Step' faction.

“The term 'value of the revolution' is constantly used, but it doesn’t make one a protector of those values. We talk about corruption and undisclosed bonuses being given. Whether it’s secret or not, what does it matter? If the bonus is corruption, then you shouldn't have given that bonus; you’ve been giving it for two years. Or when officials are mentioned in connection with calls related to lands or areas, names should be provided. Just saying doesn’t help. You could have alerted us three years ago, and we would have taken measures,” he noted.

“If we proceed with that logic, there are also people working in this building who have close ties to Mr. Marutyan. We’re talking about bonuses, and at the waste management agency, they have been siphoning bonuses for two years. Why weren’t you catching them? Until I brought the facts, nothing was done,” he said. Galjyan also expressed his pleasure that Hayk Marutyan finally made a political statement, adding, “In my opinion, that was a failed statement, and its beginning and end could happen simultaneously.”
