Official Announcement on the Host Country for Next Year's Junior Eurovision

The European Broadcasting Union and Armenia's Public Television officially announce that due to the victory achieved in Paris on December 19, the 20th Junior Eurovision Song Contest will take place in Armenia next year.

14-year-old Malena's song "Qami Qami" won the 19th Junior Eurovision Song Contest, receiving 224 points. Representatives from 19 countries competed for the top prize. This marks Armenia's second win in the competition. Armenia will host the Junior Eurovision again in 2022.

Martin Österdahl, Executive Supervisor of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, said: "Armenia's interesting, high-quality, and modern performer has set a new standard for the competition. Armenia's enthusiasm for the contest is limitless, and we are delighted to announce that Armenia's Public Television has expressed a desire to host the 20th Junior Eurovision. We are looking forward to collaborating with them to organize a unique show to commemorate this milestone."

Noel Curran, Director General of the European Broadcasting Union, added: "We are incredibly excited about Armenia's second victory this week in Paris, and we congratulate Malena and the hardworking delegation of Public Television on this stunning achievement. We welcome our EBU member in Armenia's readiness to host the 20th Junior Eurovision Song Contest and look forward to an excellent collaboration between the EBU and Public Television in the coming months."

The Director General of Armenia's Public Television, Hovhannes Movsisyan, stated: "From the very first moments of the song's premiere, we believed in Malena's victory as we saw the enthusiastic response from European music lovers, and we are eagerly anticipating hosting this large-scale event in Armenia. Our compatriots received Armenia's return to the Eurovision family with great enthusiasm and are excited to host this impressive event in our country. Welcome to Armenia."

The date and venue for the 2022 Junior Eurovision contest will be confirmed in the coming months.
