Criminal Proceedings Against Isagulyan for Reporting a Non-Existent Crime

The Investigative Committee of Armenia has conducted extensive investigative and procedural actions within the framework of the criminal case opened against the president of the 'National Security' party, G. I., under part 2, article 333 of the RA Criminal Code, at the National Security Service's Investigative Department.

Evidence has been obtained indicating that during a press conference on September 20, 2021, G. I. knowingly reported a non-existent crime, disclosing false information. In particular, during the interview, G. I. asserted that the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia in Ukraine was allegedly surveilled and recruited by Turkish and Azerbaijani special services, and claimed that since 2008, this ambassador had collaborated with these services and representatives from these nations, having no doubts about this claim.

According to G. I.'s statements, the ambassador in Ukraine had negotiations with the Azerbaijani ambassador, which supposedly concluded that the Prime Minister of Armenia should meet with representatives of the President of Turkey in Batumi to solicit financial aid, alleging that the Armenian government was out of budgetary funds and could not pay pensions. In doing so, he accused the Armenian diplomat of committing a particularly serious crime unjustly.

As a result of the aforementioned criminal act, G. I. was involved as a defendant under part 2, article 333 of the RA Criminal Code, and a decision was made to arrest him the same day.

Additionally, in the criminal case currently pending before the General Jurisdiction Court of Yerevan, G. I. is already accused of committing identical and homogeneous criminal acts related to false accusations against the Prime Minister of Armenia, several current and former officials, public figures (first episode), the current head of the Investigative Committee of Armenia (second episode), and the former secretary of the Security Council of Artsakh (third episode), as well as publicly calling for violence against the Prime Minister (one episode).
